Volunteers Sought

There are three vacancies on the accommodations tax committee. Volunteers must work in the hospitality or lodging industry either in the town or in Horry County, or represent culture and/or arts. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please submit an application form to townclerk@surfsidebeach.org or send via US Mail to Accommodations Tax Committee, Town of Surfside Beach, US Highway 17 North, Surfside Beach, SC 29575, or fax to Accommodations Tax Committee at 843.238.5432. (Town residency is not required.) Please see below for information about this committee's purpose. Call 843.913.6333 for more information.   Note: Town Code Section 2-61(e) states that a member whose term expires may serve up to one year without official reappointment.

Term:  4 years

Duties:  This statutory committee makes recommendations to Town Council regarding the expenditure of revenue generated from the accommodations tax. 

Qualifications: The committee consists of seven members with a majority being selected from the hospitality industry of the municipality or county receiving the revenue. At least two of the hospitality industry members must be from the lodging industry, where applicable. One member shall represent the cultural organizations of the municipality or county receiving the revenue. Town residency is not required. 

Meeting Schedule:  This committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of January each yea at 4:00 p.m., and has other meetings as business dictates.  Meetings are held in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 115 US Highway 17 North, Surfside Beach, SC. This notice is published pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act Section 30-4-80(A) and (E).  The public is invited to attend all meetings and events.
