  • South Carolina Deaths 3,355**
  • Horry County Cases: 10,631 ** denotes results (10/12/2020 2:05 PM)

I spoke with the representative from DHEC on Friday. He informed me that there were 88 people tested at the Wild Water and Wheels location in Surfside.  This number was a huge increase from the week before.  DHEC says that they will consider staying longer if turnout is good.  They will be back next Friday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

John Adair, Director of Public Works, was given a heads-up that the crew installing the lights on Business 17 have just been dispatched to Louisiana to provide aid in electric restoration following Hurricane Delta.  It will be a couple of weeks before they are back to work on the lights between Glenns Bay Road and Melody Lane.

I apologize for not having the daily update available before the close of business on Friday.

Our next regular Town Council Meeting will be held tomorrow, October 13, 2020, at 6:30 PM.   The agenda for this meeting has been posted.

The main issues to be discussed will be a public hearing – authorizing the amended lease between Surfside Beach and Atlantic Restaurant Group, a presentation from the independent auditor, a discussion about upcoming events during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the first reading of ORDINANCE #20-0224 – An Ordinance of the Town of Surfside Beach authorizing the amended lease.
