Government
Surfside Beach is a "Council Form" of government with seven members on Town Council, including the mayor. The mayor presides over council meetings, performs ceremonial duties, calls special meetings, acts as the informational liaison to the governor in times of emergency, and acts and votes as a member of council. The mayor has no additional statutory authority beyond that of other councilmembers. The Administrator is appointed by the Council and oversees all aspects of town business and operations.
