Ruck Update

Richard started the Ruck on April 28th in Hothouse NC and is currently on Day 10!!

He will end in Surfside Beach on Pine Ave, headed east to west, on Wednesday, May 26th in the late afternoon.  South State Bank will be having grilled hot dogs, tents for other sponsors and we're trying to get a bouncy house.

After these big days, he is exhausted but I would like to have a brunch or lunch with Town Council and the CAN board honoring him on Thursday, May 27th.

I hope to have all details confirmed early next week.  It is difficult as every day is different, depending on how Richard is feeling, traffic, weather (heat mainly as he moves toward the coast and further into May).  He is, literally, a moving target.

All can follow the effort at

We also encourage people to do the Slappy WODs (workouts of the day) or donate:

Please let me know of any additional needs and thank you!!

Pier Construction

PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: Please help us by sharing this important information! As pier construction ramps up, there are lots of cool things to see! We are asking for the community's assistance by being safe and staying back away from the construction site. The crews will be moving large pieces of heavy steel. Additionally, the tides are creating large, deep pools around the structure that could be life-threatening, especially to children. We know it's inconvenient when trying to walk the beach, but please walk around the site onto Ocean Blvd. It is not safe to walk through the site, even when no construction is taking place. Please watch from a distance and do not go beyond the construction fencing and/or approach these structures. Our goal is to be safe and we look forward to having a pier that is as awesome as this community!
