It has been great to see the residents of Surfside Beach coming together to celebrate activities in the town.From the Tree Lighting at Town Hall on December 3rd, to the Christmas Golf Cart Parade on December 5th, to the Ground Breaking for the Pier Restoration Project on December 7th, to the Surfside Beach Christmas Parade last Saturday, everyone had a great time. These were times when residents can get together and celebrate with each other how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful town.

 

Please check on your neighbors during the the holiday season, and be mindful of people that are less fortunate.

Tomorrow at 2:00 PM will be the Surfside Beach Christmas Parade. Please come join the fun. There are currently over 100 entries including floats and marching bands. The parade will start at Ocean Boulevard and Melody Lane and turn onto Surfside Drive. The parade will be held rain or shine, but the weather reports say it will be beautiful. Come show your support for our town. See you there.

DHEC reported that there were 104 people that came for testing at the Wild Water and Wheels today.  They reported that a lot of the testing is being done for people that are planning to travel over the holidays.

Bill Shanahan (the new Town Administrator) and I spoke with Johnny D today. He stated that 200 applicants showed up to his job fair yesterday. Their business should be opening sometime after the first of the year.

Today was the job fair for the new Johnny D’s Waffles and Benedicts in Surfside. They should be opening sometime in January; we will keep you posted as we learn more information.

Today was the “Groundbreaking Ceremony” for the Pier Restoration Project. The turnout was great.

We had Russell Fry (our House Representative) speak as well as Tom Keegan from Congressman Tom Rice’s Office. The news coverage was very positive, and we are now well underway with our pier construction project. Many thanks to the town residents who came out today and to our stakeholders that made this day possible. I hope everyone that attended was able to take home a souvenir “Pier Cookie”.

The turnout last night for the Surfside Beach Annual Christmas Tree Lighting was amazing.It has been a long time since our residents gathered for an event.Everyone had a great time and social distancing was observed.The Low Country Community Church guided us in Christmas songs, Santa Clause was there to greet the children, there was a drone filming all aspects of the event, and it was even live streamed on the town Facebook page.Thank you for everyone that came out to help celebrate this occasion.

 

Tomorrow will be the 1st Annual Surfside Beach Golf Cart Parade.December 5th at 2;00 PM.

 

  • Anyone can participate.  Decorate your golf cart for Christmas.  Judges will be stationed on the deck of Neal & Pams.  Line up on Melody Lane beginning at 1:00 PM.  The parade will proceed down Ocean Blvd to 16th N.  Prizes will be given for 1st,2nd and 3rd place.  Make sure your number is visible at the judges stand.  We hope to see everyone there.  If you can’t participate in the parade, feel free to join us to watch the parade on Ocean Blvd.

 

Pier Construction Ground Breaking - Monday December 7th at 11:00AM

  • This event will be held in the pier parking lot.  Guest Speakers will include:
