 Mayor Hellyer’s Weekly Update
 February 3, 2023
Parking Registration starts Monday, February 6th.  Visit www.surfsidebeach.org/parking to register online. For all that are coming to Town Hall to register and/or receive parking decals, please use the Parking Office Entrance in the rear of the building.
This week, Council and I will be attending the Hometown Legislative Action Day Tuesday, February 7th followed by the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government on February 8.
All residents are invited to an introductory Public Open House on Tuesday, February 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 to learn more about the COMPREHENSIVE PLAN for Surfside Beach. You can drop-in to learn more about the process for creating a new long-range prior-setting plan for the future of our town. We want your input right from the start! Please plan to attend at the Dick M. Johnson Civic Center.
Applications for the “Town Administrator” position have been arriving. We are working with the South Carolina Municipal Association to help process and screen candidates for interviews and selection. We expect this will take several months. In the meantime, our Interim Town Administrator is doing a fantastic job keeping things in order.
Our town is in need of inspectors. Job opportunities are listed on the website: https://www.surfsidebeach.org/Jobs.aspx. Help us spread the word. Perhaps you know of someone with the right set of qualifications.
Efforts are underway to finalize the contracts for the Farmers Market on Tuesdays, and the Craft Market on Thursdays, to begin in April through the summer and early fall season. The details should be finalized during our next Town Council meeting.
The flyers are posted for the town’s Barbeque Festival. March 3rd from 4-7 p.m. is our Anything but BBQ, followed by the BBQ Festival on Saturday March 4 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. any vendors interested in participating should contact Sheri Medina, Town Clerk, at 843-913-6333.
Stay safe and God Bless …
