Great News…The Grand Strand Coastal Alliance has awarded the Corps of Engineer with $56 million to repair the storm damages to the Grand Strand Beach Projects. Horry County is the primary on this.  This means that plans are being made, and funding provided, to renourish the beaches. I will provide more information as it is received. Thanks, John Adair, for helping make this happen.

Well today is the “Anything But BBQ” in the Yaupon Parking lot from 4pm-7pm. Carter’s Carolina BBQ, Coastal BBQ, MB BBQ House, Surfside Beach and Smoking Down South will be offering an array of dinner dishes.

You will also notice that the competitors of the BBQ competition will be setting up this evening and will be smoking their BBQ all night for the competition of Saturday. Please come out and join us on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Surfside Drive and Yaupon Drive. There will be great food, approximately 70 vendors, activities for the children and two stages of entertainment.  The Fabulous Fish Heads will be performing from 10am-1pm, and the Embers featuring Craig Woolard from 1pm-4pm.  Please obey all parking signs. The weather is projected to be in the 70s, and this is the perfect time to get out and see some of you friends and neighbors. Have a great time!

Neal and Pam’s have been closed since July 22, 2022. Major improvements have been made and it looks like they are almost ready to open again.  Projections are for later this month.  We wish them well and cannot wait.

The Town met with Santee Cooper earlier this week to receive our bi-yearly franchise fee check and discuss future projects. We are currently working to finish the putting all the utilities underground on Ocean Blvd. This is from 9th S to Melody Lane and from 3rd N to 16th N. The first step is to have the engineering work completed. We are currently working to start this process. The project will not take place quickly.

Mark your calendars to attend the Arbor Day Ceremony on April 28th at 10:00 am.  Location to be determined.

Stay safe and God Bless …
