[ARCHIVED] Mayor Hellyer's Weekly Update - July 1, 2022

Mayor Hellyers Weekly Update

At our recent Town Meeting on Wednesday, we passed the 2022-2023 Budget which includes a pay increase for all of Surfside Beach’s employees. Today, State Representative Russell Fry notified me that his $1M request for the Surfside Beach pier in the state budget, was approved. Good news, and thank you, Representative Fry.

The 4th of July Golf Cart Parade in the Town of Surfside Beach is July 4, 2022, at 10 a.m. Golf carts will check-in and line up in the public parking lot at 16th Ave. N and Ocean Blvd. The route along Ocean Blvd between 16th Ave. N and S will be closed for the parade.

4th of July Golf Cart Regulations

Our 4th of July celebration will be at Martin Field at 6th Ave. S & Dogwood Dr. from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Come, join in the fun! Activities for the kids include a bounce house, slip and slide, and a face-painter. Live music by Carolina Soul. Venders will be Surf Dawgs, Carolina Corn, N&M Concessions, Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ices, Gnosh Pit, and Southern Scoops.

The Farmers Market on Tuesdays in Memorial Park is still going strong. I got some of the best watermelon and tomatoes plus dog treats. There are also a variety of other vendors. Thursday I was at the Open-Air Market with Meaning in Memorial Park to check out the assorted crafts.

And don’t forget to come out on Sunday for Music in the Park. There's a last-minute change to our for this weekend. The band Peace, Love and Unity will fill in for Backfire in Memorial Park on Sunday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

BE INFORMED, GET INVOLVED, HELP BE THE CHANGE……. Thank you
