Mayor Hellyers Weekly Update

September 2, 2022

Happy Friday Everyone! Our “Employee Appreciation Event” on September 7, will be in Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Please come and show your support for the people that make Surfside Beach a great place to live.

Our employees are our greatest asset in this Town, so please come and let them know that you appreciate their service.

Also on September 7, the Large Dog Park across the street from Memorial Park will be closed for the removal of a tree as part of our town’s tree maintenance program.

I just got word of the results of the September Yard -of-the-Month results. The winner is:
Ann and Tom Preston, 416 1st Ave North.
Congratulations, and thank you for helping make our Town beautiful.

Sunday, September 4, at 4 p.m. in Memorial Park, Music in the Park will feature the “Billy King Trio.” The weather forecast is for great weather with only a 25% chance of rain. Keep your fingers crossed. Bring a chair and enjoy the time with your neighbors and visitors

September 17, is the next Beach Sweep and this event will be in conjunction with the statewide event. KSBB will be coordinating with all the other jurisdictions to help report our trash collection data to be included in state statistics. You report for duty from 9 to 10 a.m. at the 3rd Ave N. beach access. Bring your kids, neighbors and friends. Come show your support and help us in this effort. Your participation will be rewarded. This is such a good thing!

September 24th is the “Celebrate Surfside Beach” festival from 11 to 3 p.m. This event is being sponsored by local businesses. There will be food, drink, music, kid-friendly events and other entertainment, including the dunking booth! The fun begins on 3rd Avenue South to Surfside Drive. Wear comfortable shoes and park safely!

Don’t forget our Fall Festival is fast approaching on October 1, as planning is underway for vendors, committee and town booths, and many other preparations. It is going to be a great time with food, drink, music and vendors of all sorts, as well as the town and volunteer committee booths, chalked full of information. I am being told that the number of vendors is impressive this year.

BE INFORMED, GET INVOLVED, and HELP BE THE CHANGE! … Thank You
Stay safe and God Bless!
