Saturday is the long-awaited “Celebrate Surfside Beach” festival from 11 to 3 p.m. It promises to be a beautiful weather day. This event is being sponsored by local businesses. There will be food, drink, music, kid-friendly events, and other entertainment, including a dunking booth. The fun begins on 3rd Ave South to Surfside Drive. Wear comfortable shoes, please park safely, and take lots of pictures at the popular Surfside Beach murals, Hat Lady (which is being showcased in the new Grand Strand art and gallery trail) and Benjamin’s Bagels. Hope to see you there!
It is so good to see our businesses improving their exterior building fronts. I commend the Golden Egg’s new digital sign, Surfside Bowling Entertainment Center with a fresh sign, and Tomlinson’s bright blue store face. Looking nice.
This Sunday, September 25, the group “Backfire” will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park. This will be the last group for this year. Please come out for this event.
October is the last month that we will be awarding the “Yard-of-the Month” this year. Nominees have been submitted and the final selection of the year will be announced on October 1st. The nominees are:
#1 1019 hickory Drive, #2 111 North Poplar Drive and #3 650 3rd Ave North. Cast your vote with a 1,2 or 3 by midnight September 28th. You can send an email to KeepSurfsideBeachBeautiful@gmail.com, or a PM to the KSBB Facebook page.
A Summer Thank You to the Keep Surfside Beautiful Committee for showcasing the beautiful yards and gardens of our residents. Last weekend’s beach sweep was the best, over 200 people pitched in with the nationwide effort that affects us locally. I really appreciate all the hard work. Be on the lookout for KSBB’s announcements for It’s a Wonderful Life – Christmas season!
BE INFORMED, GET INVOLVED, and HELP BE THE CHANGE! … Thank You
Stay safe and God Bless! Mayor Bob Hellyer
