SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (September 23, 2022) - Pier Construction Update
Recently Town Council decided to position the pier access gate beyond the last building on the platform. The main purpose of this gate is for safety and to prevent people from accessing the pier overnight.
As of this week, there are 3 more pile bents left to construct.
The beams for these last pile bents are being put into the sea floor 15 feet deeper than the first beams, due to geological conditions.
