Beach Services Attendant 

Police Department

This is a seasonal part-time position. Beach Services employees will have limited duties specifically designated on or around the beach area.  Beach Services employees are supervised by the on-duty supervisor; normally the Police Corporal.  Beach Services employees will be responsible for assisting Beach Patrol Officers on and around the beach area within the corporate limits of Surfside Beach.  They will be tasked with patrolling the beach, monitoring beach goers, assisting visitors and locals with a variety of issues and concerns, and reporting violations of Town Ordinances/State law on the beach and beach access areas.  This is not a certified Class I Police Officer positionThis position is limited in its scope to specifically on and around the beach area.  Current Class 1 law enforcement officers working for other agencies may perform beach services duties, but not as law enforcement officers.

Hourly Rate $15.00

Victim's Advocate - Part Time 

Police Department

Pay Grade / Salary Range:     $14.42 - $20.48 per hour
FLSA Status:                           Non Exempt

Employees in this position work in a part-time capacity. Employees serve as a victim-witness advocate and provide technical assistance and support to officers. Employees generally work office hours as scheduled and required by the Administrative Division Supervisor. Additional out-of-office work hours may be required and are worked as needed to return phone calls, emails, and respond to requests for assistance. Employees may be required to respond to scenes or facilities to assist victims and officers after business hours and are subject to call-in and an on-call rotation. Employees are required to attend hearings, court appearances, meetings, training, and other obligations as required to maintain certifications and/or deemed necessary by the Administrative Division Supervisor.

Communications Officer

Employees in this position perform skilled duties related to Police communications. Police communications officers use phone and radio systems to receive, evaluate, and transmit emergency and routine traffic and messages to field units. The position requires specialized training and certifications. Employees are responsible for emergency and non-emergency radio, phone, and person-to-person communications with Police staff and civilians.
